What do you hold close? Where is your secret place of belonging? If you had to leave everything behind and begin again – who would you be? Humanitarian tragedies keep unfolding, creating immense human suffering. But as the world around us is unravelling, have we stopped dreaming of another? Starring young women whose lives have been affected by forced migration, this film is about the loss of utopia and our ability to dream again.

Cooper & Gorfer comprises the artists Sarah Cooper (US, 1974) and Nina Gorfer (Austria, 1979). Based on the stories and lives of the women they meet and collaborated with, Cooper & Gorfer explore issues of memory, migration, dislocation, and the malleability of identity.
